My Bucket List

My Bucket List (updated to August 22, 2017)

The idea that kicked this all off. Born in a hot tub on a snowy winter night. A wine fueled conversation about not missing out of life just because of jobs and families. Thank you to my SJ ladies for being part of that night and this journey!

What is a bucket list? For me it is my promise to myself not to forget myself and my dreams in the middle of caring for a home, kids, partner and career. Not to get so caught up in the rat race of life and miss the amazing things life has to offer.

How to make a list

As part of my leadership training a couple of years ago I had drafted a list of personal goals – in total when I finished that process I had scraped together less than 50 things I wanted to do. I decided to start from that list and try to add a few more things because if nothing else this blog wouldn’t last long if I only had 50 things I wanted to do with the rest of my life.

There are lots of websites about bucket lists – there are lots of ideas. I really like Bucket List Journey and was wowed to see Annette has 843 items on her bucket list (as of the first time I looked at her site). I was obviously thinking too small!!

I have spent more time thinking about what I have done in the past, what is on our list now and what I want to accomplish in the future.

My List

Here is my list. It is a work in progress. Just get it started. Don’t allow anything to be too big or too small, the more that you put down the more you are likely to accomplish.

My bucket list disclaimer: I heretofore guarantee the within list will change. I reserve the right to: amend, review and/or revise this list in an manner and at any time. The forthcoming list shall be non-binding and without prejudice experiences for the sole benefit of the undersigned/author.

I welcome suggestions to add to my list. For your information. I don’t eat bugs. I don’t engage in activities where my survival is questionable. I am afraid of heights. I get motion sickness.

Organized by type of experience (absolutely borrowed and inspired by Annette at Bucket List Journey), in no particular order and bolded with a date after the item once it has been completed.

    1. Thanks Theresa! Just for the record it is many of your amazing adventures that inspired me! Let me know if you ever want to write me a story of one of your cool trips!

  1. Wonderful list, Veronica! I enjoyed reading it. I have information on the “grape stomp” activity, in Portugal, if you need it. I absolutely loved it.
If you get the chance I would add the West Coast Trail on Vancouver Island for a hike to do. And remember if you ever need someone to join you on some of these adventures, I am available, 😉 !
    Take care,
    Diana

    1. Hi Diana, Thank you so much for being part of it. Our conversation in Portugal was part of what started it all! I’ll add that hike for sure and trust me you will be part of more adventures – get the canoes ready the badlands is on my list!

  2. 203 – you’ve inspired me! Glad to see Tasmania & NZ featured – we’ll care for you in both places. Plus eating alone in a restaurant can be very special – just choose a good one!!

    1. Thanks Jules! How could I not want to come to see you all after the amazing time with you all in Greece! I love to take myself on a date – and you are right pick a good restaurant and avoid the boiled goat!

  3. Well – you’ve already inspired someone – me!! To actually write a list – to just start as you say & go from there. Fantastic – I love it already & will eagerly read everything you put up & will enviously watch as you tick these things off – & add more.
AND – I’ll get to see you sometime too as my place is on your list, soon I hope!

    1. Thanks Karen! Being with you lot in Greece was pretty darn inspiring as well! Let me know if you ever want to write a story about one of your adventures or if you need a travel buddy. Your B&B looks gorgeous and I can’t wait to see it in person!

  4. What a great way to keep reminding yourself and others that there is so much to see and do in your lifetime. I ❤️ the countdown to Ireland! I will be watching it. You have motivated me to get going on some of my goals as well. I can’t wait to share in some of these adventures and experiences.
